Thursday, 19th of November 2015, was the D Day for the 24 projects’ representatives, the 8 engineers, the 5 engineering companies and the 5 contractors that presented their candidacy to the ITA Tunnelling Awards in Hagerbach, Switzerland: 11 outstanding profiles and projects have finally been awarded. A noticeable distinction for them all, regarding the tough selection at work along the process (42 nominated entries among 110 candidates, 11 finally awarded).
And the winners of the ITA Tunnelling Awards 2015 are:
- THE EURASIAN TUNNEL, Major Project of 2015 (exceeding €500m)
- The 1ST PHASE OF LOW AND INTERMEDIATE LEVEL RADIOACTIVE WASTE DISPOSAL FACILITY CONSTRUCTION IN KOREA (LILW), Tunnelling Project of the Year 2015 (from €50m to €500m)
- NORSBORG METRO DEPOT: the Outstanding Tunnelling Project of the Year (up to €50m)
- AN INNOVATIVE VEHICLE-MOUNTED GPR TECHNIQUE FOR FAST AND EFFICIENT MONITORING OF TUNNEL LINING STRUCTURE CONDITIONS Technical Innovation of the Year
- THE CORRIB TUNNEL PROJECT, The Environmental Initiative of the Year
- THE MINEARC SYSTEMS COMPRESSED AIR MANAGEMENT SOLUTION, Safety Initiative of the Year
- THE TOLEDO METRO STATION ON LINE 1 IN NAPLES, Innovative Use of Underground Space
- Jurij KARLOVSEK, Young Tunneller of the Year 2015
- WSP-PARSONS BRINCKERHOFF, Engineering Firm of the Year
- SALINI – IMPREGILO, Contractor of the Year
- Prof Sebastiano PELIZZA, Life Time Achievement Award
